Job description

SUMMARY: (Part-Time)
The watchman's primary duty is to prevent illegal activity in order to protect the community, guests, and residents from harm. Watchman must be alert and quick to detect any attempts to damage property or harm residents, guests, or the community. Watchman is in charge of enforcing community policies, especially regarding security. They exercise discretion in granting authorization to enter or exit the building and conduct security screenings to ensure that no person intending to commit an unlawful activity is allowed in or around the premises.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
A minimum of one-year related experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Follow written and verbal directions.
Demonstrate aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
Ability to effectively read, write and communicate in English.
Exhibits an energetic demeanor with a caring, compassionate attitude.
Possesses sound organizational and time management skills.
Possesses good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: (Include those listed below and other duties as assigned by management)
Arrives to work on time and attends work on a regular basis with minimal absences.
Completes an hour-by hour log.
Watchman will routinely inspect the parking garage area for any suspicious activities.
Watchmen are the first to respond to incidents and emergencies in the parking garage. If a watchman observes an incident on the premises, it is his duty to take charge of the situation
Watchmen also have administrative tasks such as directing guests. Since a watchman is often the first-person visitors encounter, he must be approachable, knowledgeable and he should offer necessary guidance.
A watchman also maintains a record of all activities observed daily on the premises and deliver to the executive director to keep them apprised of daily status. This covers all observations or other developments which may have occurred around the community.
