The Building Science Manager will lead the tesa North America Air & Waterproofing (AWP) strategic transformation from a component adhesive supplier to an industry building-science-driven system partner by establishing the company as a technical authority in building envelope performance, ensuring all products and system solutions are spec-defensible, field-defensible, and differentiated, while serving as the central link between R&D/Product Development, Specification/Technical Marketing, and Commercial/Key Account teams, and ultimately leading a team that includes Code Compliance and Technical Installation/Field Specialists.
How you'll help the formula:
  • Lead tesa North America Building Science Strategy - translate industry standards into technical advantage
  • Own System Performance & Qualifications - develop and implement qualifications gates such as durability, resistance, assembly and temperature performance
  • Drive Performance Philosophy - define performance basis for all aspects of technical requirements for system solutions
  • Enable System Selling & Specification Wins - create spec-read documentation and architect/consultant language
  • Customer & Partner Engagement - technical expert for tesa partners and key accounts
  • Other duties as assigned

Key Deliverables (initial 2-3 years)
  • Establish system qualification framework across all categories
  • Launch system-based solutions
  • Enable specification inclusion of solutions in key projects
  • Build internally aligned building-science narrative across R&D, Sales, and Marketing
  • Position tesa North America as a credible voice in durability and building envelope performance

Key elements for your role:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Materials Science, or related field or equivalent experience
  • Deep understanding of:
    • Building envelope systems (WRB, air barrier, flashing, roofing)
    • Moisture management, air control, and durability principles
  • 7-12+ years in building envelope / facade systems / waterproofing / air barrier systems or related construction materials industry
  • Experience with all relevant standards including AAMA 711 (flashing durability), AC38 (WRB and air barrier acceptance criteria) and ASTM testing frameworks for adhesion, durability, and system performance
  • Up to 40% travel domestically, valid license and passport required
