Building Maintenance Technician (Painting and Light Carpentry) - JLLWhat this job involves:

As a Building Maintenance Technician specializing in painting and light carpentry, you'll play a vital role in preserving the aesthetic appeal and structural integrity of our commercial facilities. Working primarily 2nd and 3rd shifts (Wednesday through Sunday), you'll ensure our properties maintain professional standards through skilled painting, light carpentry repairs, and general facility maintenance. This hands-on position offers the opportunity to work independently while contributing to client satisfaction and the overall functionality of high-quality commercial spaces. Your expertise will directly impact tenant experience and property value across JLL's diverse portfolio.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Prepare, prime, and paint interior and exterior surfaces using proper techniques; mix custom colors and textures to match specifications; hang wall coverings, repair drywall, and perform plaster repairs as needed
  • Execute light carpentry tasks including repairing and installing doors, locks, door closers, furniture, shelving, and various fixtures throughout commercial facilities
  • Troubleshoot and assist with basic building systems maintenance, including carpet and flooring repairs, minor plumbing issues, and general facility upkeep to ensure operational efficiency
  • Protect work areas by properly deploying drop cloths, masks, and safety barriers to minimize disruption and maintain cleanliness standards
  • Perform routine facility inspections during evening/overnight hours to identify maintenance needs and address issues proactively before they escalate
  • Document completed work, materials used, and any observations requiring follow-up using basic computer systems and mobile devices
  • Collaborate with property management teams and other maintenance staff to coordinate projects and ensure seamless service delivery during non-business hours
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 to 5 years of demonstrated commercial or institutional painting and carpentry experience, or completion of a formal apprenticeship program
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record, as travel between properties or material pickup may be required
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and safely perform overhead work while using ladders, scaffolding, and other equipment for extended periods
  • Proven ability to work independently during 2nd and 3rd shifts (Wednesday through Sunday schedule) with minimal supervision
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols, health regulations, and environmental compliance standards in commercial maintenance settings
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with basic computer proficiency for documentation and work order systems
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in corporate offices, life sciences facilities, or research campuses with strict regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and commercial building codes
  • Familiarity with multiple painting techniques including spray application, faux finishing, and specialty coatings
  • Basic troubleshooting skills related to HVAC, electrical, or mechanical building systems
  • Previous experience coordinating with vendors, contractors, and property management teams
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and maintenance specifications
  • Flexibility to occasionally adjust schedule for emergency maintenance or special project needs

Work Shift: 2nd and 3rd shifts, Wednesday through Sunday (shift differential applied)
