Materials and Purchasing Manager
Location: Elkmont, Alabama
Salary: $115,000 per year
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Job Type: Direct hire

Automation Personnel Services is recruiting a Materials and Purchasing Manager for a company in Elkmont, Alabama. This is an opportunity for an experienced supply-chain leader to take ownership of the material flow that keeps manufacturing operations running efficiently and reliably.
In this role, you will help shape purchasing strategy, supplier performance, inventory accuracy, and procurement costs. Your decisions will support production continuity while helping the business improve planning, manage spend, and build a more efficient materials operation.
 
What you’ll do
  • Develop and execute purchasing strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Source suppliers and negotiate and manage supplier agreements and contracts.
  • Lead MRP and ERP planning processes to support accurate, timely material availability.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and help optimize inventory levels.
  • Coordinate cycle counts and physical inventory activities.
  • Monitor purchasing spend and budget performance.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and identify opportunities to improve cost, service, quality, and reliability.
  • Partner with manufacturing and business leaders to anticipate material needs and address supply-chain challenges proactively.
What you bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of purchasing, materials management, or supply-chain leadership experience.
  • Required experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
  • Experience with Power BI.
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification preferred.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to use data to make sound purchasing and inventory decisions.
