Job description

POSITION EXPECTATIONS The expectation of this position is to ensure the timely execution of the responsibilities associated with the Building Engineering shop and the overall maintenance of the facility, support of structural and electrical remodels, and Capital and small projects. The Building Engineering Supervisor will provide supervision to his/her direct reports while maintaining a skilled, forward-thinking, collaborative, and team building atmosphere. CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPECTATIONS This position is expected to provide reactive and proactive customer service to internal and external customers to exceed expectations.

He/she will communicate effectively and in a timely manner with the organization regarding issues that may impact the customer experience. SAFETY EXPECTATIONS At the LVCVA, safety is everyone's job. All ambassadors are expected to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of safe work practices and to comply with established rules, policies, procedures and regulations.

In addition, all ambassadors are responsible for eliminating and reporting hazards and incidents. Enforces provisions of labor contract, personnel rules, and LVCVA policies and procedures. Assists with interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of new Building Engineers.

PURPOSE: Ensure resources and workflow are aligned appropriately, and the team is comprised of individuals with the skills, knowledge, and capabilities to carry out the work. COMPETENCIES: Approachability, Communication, Integrity/Trust, Specific Job Knowledge, Motivating Others, Conflict Resolution, Judgment Ensures all work conforms to requirements of the LVCVA, OSHA, Clark County Building department and National Electric Codes. ?-This was not capitalized in other JD's PURPOSE: Ensures coordination, completion, and compliance of all work to applicable laws, regulations, and LVCVA policy.

COMPETENCIES: Communication, Critical Thinking, Integrity/Trust, Judgment, Specific Job Knowledge Assists in developing and implementing goals, objectives, procedures, and work standards for the Building Engineering shop. PURPOSE: Aligns departmental priorities with those of the organization while working within established standards. COMPETENCIES: Approachability, Communication, Specific Job Knowledge, Motivating Others Prepares specifications and back-up memos for purchase requisitions.

Requests materials and supplies for the Building Engineering Shop. Monitors budgeted funds, inventory, and makes decisions on needed purchases. Assists in budget preparation and Capital expenditure planning.

PURPOSE: Ensures fiscal responsibility with all funding allocated to the Building Engineering shop. COMPETENCIES: Communication, Critical Thinking, Integrity/Trust, Judgment, Specific Job Knowledge Balances shop workload between repair and maintenance, show readiness and show support, building damage, and project related tasks. Adjusts to fluctuations in workload based on building needs and urgencies.

PURPOSE: Develops a work environment where tasks and responsibilities can be accomplished successfully within the time available. Creates an environment where the most important needs are met as flexibility is critical to the day-to-day success of the department. COMPETENCIES: Approachability, Communication, Critical Thinking, Judgment, Specific Job Knowledge Reviews and quality checks all completed work orders and project work finished by staff.

Reviews the work of contractors for adherence to plans and specifications and for quality assurance. PURPOSE: Ensures completion of work to established standards throughout the facility. COMPETENCIES: Communication, Conflict Resolution, Integrity/Trust, Specific Job Knowledge, Accountability Evaluates problematic systems and areas of the facilities and determines what installation or repairs need to be performed.

PURPOSE: Maintain the facility equipment for effective and efficient operations. COMPETENCIES: Judgment, Critical Thinking, Specific Job Knowledge, Integrity/Trust Informs and trains staff in the proper use of tools, materials, and proper work procedures. Provides expertise to the Building Engineers as needed on any tasks with which they are not familiar.

PURPOSE: Ensure Building Engineers can recognize the hazards associated with the different types of tools and the safety precautions necessary. Creates safety-first environment. COMPETENCIES: Communication, Approachability, Integrity/Trust, Judgment, Specific Job Knowledge, Motivating Others Conducts weekly safety meetings and inspections.

Ensures staff is aware and wearing the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) based on tasks and environment. PURPOSE: Provides an atmosphere reinforcing the safety-first priority of the Engineering department. COMPETENCIES: Communication, Critical Thinking, Integrity/Trust, Judgment, Specific Job Knowledge, Motivating Others, Approachability Utilizes the CMMS (Maximo) in the prioritizing of the daily workload, tracks costs associated with building assets, and analyzes pattern in recurring failures.

PURPOSE: Ensure completion of administrative tasks and mission readiness by improving the workflow and efficiency. COMPETENCIES: Critical Thinking, Integrity/Trust, Judgment, Specific Job Knowledge Performs other duties as assigned. PUPRPOSE: Effective operations.

COMPETENCIES: All applicable competencies EDUCATION AND SKILLS High School Diploma or GED, Associates degree or higher preferred Minimum two (2) years supervisory experience Minimum three (3) years related engineering experience Ability to operate an aerial lift at heights up to 50 feet Considerable knowledge of tools, materials, and safe work practices Considerable knowledge of national and state codes Effectively communicates both orally and in writing within engineering, with other departments/trades, with management, and outside contractors Demonstrated successful organization of schedules and assigning of work Ability to work from building drawings and/or schematics, including electrical Working knowledge of computer and software skills such as Microsoft Office Suite, CMMS, time and attendance, etc. Must be able to work in a team environment, be self-driven, reliable, and responsible Must be able to work in environment with constantly changing priorities CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS Must have a valid Nevada driver's license at time of appointment and must keep current during course of employment. Ability to obtain an OSHA certification to operate forklifts, aerial lifts, scissor lifts, and other vehicles in the department PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an ambassador to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

He/she must be able to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, balance, and crawl, have dexterity of hands and feet. Must be able to distinguish color, size, shape and temperature; work in high, precarious places and in all climates. Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).

Must be able to drive a vehicle to various work locations when necessary. The individual must have the ability to use standard office equipment, including a computer; ability to read printed materials and a computer screen; ability to hear; ability to communicate in person or over the telephone and radio.
