Maintenance Technician at Boston Harbor Shipyard and Marina.

Boston Harbor Shipyard and Marina, located in the historic Jeffreis Point neighborhood of East Boston, is seeking a qualified Building Maintenance Technician. This role will work closely with the Property Manager to ensure that all buildings, building systems, tools and equipment are properly maintained and repaired as needed.

Boston Harbor Shipyard and Marina is a large waterfront facility with mixed use buildings, commercial piers, and an active marina.

Qualifications

  • General knowledge of building systems including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and preventative maintenance of facilities and equipment.
  • Preferable but not required: possess a Massachusetts hoisting license; OSHA training (10 hour) plus; or able to complete training towards these certifications as provided within our company.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Good communications and writing skills
  • Must be willing to work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work with a crew of people or independently, depending on the project, focusing on quality output and meeting deadlines
  • Self starter, pays attention to detail and works with a sense of urgency
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance and heavier lifting or movement tasks with assistant 

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of work in the general maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, and equipment.
  • Responsible for completing preventative maintenance and repairs throughout the shipyard facility, including buildings, equipment, infrastructure, public spaces & grounds
  • Perform maintenance on tools, light and heavy equipment, and building’s systems
  • Ensures that all work performed is conducted in a safe and timely manner adhering to standards of safety and effective equipment utilization
  • Supports maintenance manager to spec and orders parts, and help maintain inventory of spares
  • Must be able to operate shop equipment and hand tools. Will train the right candidate.
