PRIMARY FOCUS
To provide a safe, clean, secure, and welcoming environment for clients, staff, and guests at all Beech Brook facilities by performing custodial, safety, maintenance, and building support duties while ensuring compliance within the organizations standards.
Essential Functions
Building Operations amp; Safety Responsibilities
  • Open and secure the building for staff entry each morning.
  • Secure the building at the end of the workday as assigned.
  • Oversee compliance with safety procedures and assist with implementing organizational initiatives and Joint Commission (JC) standards.
  • Perform and document required fire drills, emergency exit inspections, safety checks, and related compliance activities.
  • Complete daily interior and exterior building inspections and promptly report safety concerns, maintenance issues, or hazards to the appropriate supervisor or property management.
  • Monitor building conditions to ensure a safe and professional environment for clients, staff, and visitors.
  • Distribute salt and assist with snow and ice removal at entrances and walkways as needed to maintain safe access.
  • Maintain operational emergency exits, exit signage, and accessibility throughout the facility.
  • Utilize computer systems as appropriate for documentation, safety tracking, work orders, and inspection records.
  • Attend internal and external safety meetings as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, inspections, and safety documentation.
  • Complete Daily Cleaning Checklists and Building Exterior Inspection Checklists before the end of each shift.
  • Report maintenance concerns promptly and follow through until resolved.
  • Maintain inventory of custodial supplies and notify supervisor when replenishment is needed.
  • Travel between Beech Brook locations and community partners to make deliveries, pick up records, transport supplies, and complete other agency-related errands as needed.
Custodial Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain all restrooms, kitchens, offices, common areas, hallways, reception areas, staff lounges, multipurpose rooms, and other assigned spaces.
  • Complete and document all required daily cleaning and inspection checklists before the end of each shift.
  • Conduct routine inspections of the building exterior, parking lots, sidewalks, entryways, and grounds to ensure a safe, clean, and professional appearance.
  • Identify and report maintenance needs, safety hazards, vandalism, structural concerns, landscaping issues, and seasonal hazards.
  • Ensure exterior lighting, signage, emergency exits, and entryways are maintained and accessible.
  • Complete and document required exterior inspection checklists, including monthly HVAC and water leak inspections.
  • Complete and document all required daily cleaning and inspection checklists before the end of each shift.
  • Keep entrances and sidewalks clear of debris and trash.

  • Successfully pass FBI and BCI background checks.
