Job description

Job Title: Asphalt Plant Mechanic

Location: Byram, MS and Philadelphia, MS

We are hiring for an Asphalt plant mechanic who is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining heavy machinery used to produce hot mix asphalt. This involves servicing specialized equipment such as rotary dryers, drum mixers, conveyors, baghouses, and crushers. They perform vital preventive maintenance to minimize costly production downtime during busy paving seasons. (Must be willing to work at both asphalt plants located in Byram, MS and Philadelphia, MS)

Key Responsibilities

  • Mechanical & Electrical Repairs: Diagnose and fix hydraulic, pneumatic, and complex electrical systems.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections, lubricate moving parts, replace bearings, and change conveyor belts.
  • Welding & Fabrication: Repair structural components of plant silos, bins, and chutes.
  • Emergency Troubleshooting: React quickly to equipment breakdowns during production hours

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen with a “Negative” result.
  • Must be able to complete a post- offer physical with a “Capable” result
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold
  • Experience preferred.

Work Environment:

This role operates in both office and active construction site environments. Candidate must be able to perform site walks, attend field meetings, and ensure on-site safety and compliance.
