The Role We Want You For
LJC is seeking a Senior Healthcare Commissioning Agent to lead commissioning efforts for complex healthcare facilities and critical environments nationwide. This role is responsible for ensuring that building systems are designed, installed, tested, and operated reliably in accordance with project requirements, healthcare regulations, and owner expectations.
The ideal candidate brings extensive healthcare commissioning experience and serves as a technical leader throughout the project lifecycle. You will oversee commissioning activities for critical hospital infrastructure, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and provide expert guidance on system performance, resiliency, infection control, and operational readiness.
The Specifics of the Role
  • Lead commissioning efforts for complex healthcare projects from design through occupancy.
  • Develop and execute commissioning plans, schedules, and testing procedures for critical building systems.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities across project teams, contractors, consultants, vendors, and facility owners.
  • Review design documents, specifications, and equipment submittals to ensure compliance with project requirements and healthcare standards.
  • Perform installation verification, startup oversight, and functional performance testing of building systems.
  • Evaluate system performance and reliability for critical hospital infrastructure.
  • Support infection control, redundancy, resiliency, and continuity-of-operation objectives.
  • Lead design reviews and provide technical recommendations related to system performance and maintainability.
  • Identify deficiencies, manage issue resolution processes, and validate corrective actions.
  • Prepare commissioning reports, testing documentation, and final turnover packages.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior commissioning staff.
  • Support business development efforts through client engagement and technical expertise.
  • Assist owners and facility personnel during training, occupancy, and operational transition activities.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Sciences, or a related technical field preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in healthcare commissioning, healthcare construction, or related engineering disciplines.
  • Extensive experience commissioning hospital and healthcare facility systems.
  • Strong knowledge of building mechanical systems, HVAC, controls, electrical distribution, emergency power systems, and life safety systems.
  • Experience leading commissioning activities for complex healthcare facilities and critical environments.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and manage client expectations.
  • Experience conducting functional performance testing, installation verification, and systems validation.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare operational requirements, infection control considerations, and redundancy strategies.
  • Excellent technical writing, documentation, and reporting skills.
  • Exceptional communication and client relationship management abilities.
  • Experience with power, lighting, and low-voltage systems preferred.
  • Commissioning Certification preferred.
  • ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024 accredited commissioning certification preferred but not required.
  • Ability to travel as required to support project needs.
