MARS Solutions Group is looking for an experiencedย HVAC Controls Systems Designer located inย Lincoln, RI.ย Our client is a Building Automation company looking for high-quality talent to make a difference. Overview
We are seeking an HVAC Controls Systems Designer responsible for designing, programming, and supporting building automation and HVAC control systems. This role works closely with internal teams, contractors, and customers to ensure systems are properly designed, installed, and commissioned according to project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Develop hardware designs using standard templates, including:

Flow diagrams

Sequence of operations

Bill of materials (BOM)

Network layouts

Electrical schematics

Perform software programming for HVAC control systems using established standards

Prepare and coordinate project documentation, including submittals and equipment schedules

Select, order, and track materials required for assigned projects

Support system startup, controller configuration, and commissioning activities

Troubleshoot system issues in coordination with field teams and subcontractors

Update and maintain as-built drawings and system documentation

Communicate project progress, risks, and updates to stakeholders

Assist with end-user training on system operation

Complete required administrative documentation (timesheets, reports, etc.)

Ensure compliance with safety standards and best practices

Required Qualifications

Minimum 3+ years of experience in HVAC controls installation, commissioning, or programming

Hands-on experience with building automation systems (BAS) and system-level controllers

Experience with Metasys or similar BAS platforms, including tools such as:

Controller programming tools

System configuration tools

Scheduling tools

Drafting tools (e.g., Visio or equivalent)

Strong understanding of:

Mechanical HVAC systems

Electrical systems

Control systems

Proficiency with computer-based design and technical tools

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

Associateโ€™s or Bachelorโ€™s degree in:

Mechanical Engineering

Electrical Engineering

Computer Science

OR

5+ years of relevant HVAC / controls experience

Experience with:

Building automation system design

Mechanical/electrical system evaluation

System commissioning and integration
