McCormick Stevenson, subsidiary of Paligen Technologies, is seeking an experienced Automation Design Engineer to serve as a technical specialist for the company in the design of automation and mechanical equipment. The Automation Design Engineer will: provide creative and original thinking in the design process from the definition of a specification to the approval of final drawings, act independently to recommend changes in the technical approach or emphasis of projects, provide direct communication of unique and innovative practices between the company and the client, provide technical guidance and training to engineering staff, and promote company core values throughout the work force.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide simultaneous engineering team leadership and subject matter expertise across major projects of considerable scope and complexity, with the highest degree of integrity, commitment, and professionalism.
  • Provide system engineering support to multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with internal and external team members.
  • Lead the development of Statements of Work, estimates, and project execution plans. Provide technical leadership in the development of proposals and white papers.
  • Conceive, plan, and develop new technical methods or approaches as warranted by advancements in state-of-the-art technology.
  • Thoroughly review all technical results developed by project teams to determine if outputs are complete, correct, integrated with project objectives, and adequately documented.
  • Lead presentations of engineering work to internal teams, customers, and partners.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • BS degree from an accredited engineering college a minimum of 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Defense or Aerospace industry experience.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Expertise in performing engineering calculations (tolerance analysis, first-order thermal and structural calculations).
  • Mastery of 3D CAD tools.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office PowerPoint, Word, Excel.
  • Expertise in interpretation of engineering documentation (drawings, parts lists, change orders, specifications, etc.).
  • ASME Y14.5 proficiency.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a Secret DoD clearance.
Preferred:
  • Experience in automation and controls.
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering.
  • SolidWorks and/or Creo Mastery.
  • ASME Y14.5 Mastery.
  • CETOL Six Sigma Mastery.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes and equipment.
Other Requirements:
  • Travel: Up to 20% of total time to support customer locations.
  • Work Environment: Office work environment with travel to customer manufacturing facilities.
  • Background Investigation/Drug Screen/US Person: Required
