Position Overview:  

As a Black Belt at BWXT, you'll lead highimpact Lean Six Sigma projects that drive meaningful operational improvements across the organization. You will guide crossfunctional teams, validate data, analyze processes, and identify opportunities that enhance quality, efficiency, and performance.

You'll interpret data, run experiments, and present clear, analyticsbacked recommendations to leadership. By sharing your expertise and fostering collaboration, you'll help build a strong culture of continuous improvement and empower teams to deliver lasting results.

Onsite in Mount Vernon, IN

Your Day to Day as an Operational Excellence Black Belt:

  • Build deep expertise in Lean Six Sigma principles, tools, and methodologies to lead highimpact improvement projects.
  • Drive initiatives that deliver measurable gains in quality, delivery, and cost performance.
  • Partner closely with managers and supervisors, helping them understand and champion the value of Lean Six Sigma.
  • Facilitate team discussions that draw out meaningful insights, encourage collaboration, and inspire problemsolving.
  • Work alongside Project Champions to remove roadblocks and secure the resources your teams need to succeed.
  • Share your expertise by coaching Black Belt candidates, Yellow Belts, and project teams, fostering accountability and ownership.
  • Ensure your teams' achievements are recognized and celebrated, reinforcing a culture of continuous improvement. 

 

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong and demonstrable potential for leadership and the ability to build effective relationships.
  • Ability to lead teams through challenging situations and propose impactful improvements.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities to positively influence stakeholders.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an ABETaccredited institution in a technical discipline (such as engineering, physics, or mathematics).
  • Five or more years of experience, demonstrating a broad range of responsibilities and exposure to diverse challenges.
  • Prior experience in the nuclear industry.

Pay: $66,000 - $101,000

The base salary range for this position in Indiana (US-IN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $66,000 and $101,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
