Machine Builder - Elgin, IL

Haumiller Engineering is a 100% employee-owned company that designs and manufactures automation assembly and test equipment for the life science, personal care and food and beverage industries.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Machine Builder with a minimum 3 yearsโ€™ experience. This role is responsible for building and assembling high speed automation and assembly equipment. As a member of the Build department, you will work with engineering and field service and report to our Build Manager.

This position is 100% onsite and based in our South Elgin, IL facility. Depending on workload, this position may require occasional travel to work at our Belvidere, IL location.

What You Will Do:

  • Build and troubleshoot automated assembly machines, sub-assemblies, and electrical components from engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Assemble mechanical systems consisting of machined parts, gear motor drives, gears, bearings, sensors, conveyors, feeders and other industrial components using hand and power tools
  • Assemble and plumb pneumatic systems, consisting of solenoid valves and pneumatic actuators
  • Troubleshoot assembly issues using precision measuring instruments

What You Will Bring:

Our ideal candidate will be an experienced Machine Builder with a minimum of 3 yearsโ€™ experience building and assembling machines in the automation and assembly industry.

  • Basic machine shop skills with a strong mechanical aptitude to build and disassemble machines
  • Experience using measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers
  • Have the capability to operate various machining equipment (mills, lathes, etc.)
  • Experience with PLC and AC/DC fundamentals knowledge is a plus
  • High School Diploma and 3+ years of mechanical assembly experience minimum
  • Associates Degree or certificate in industrial technology, applied science or similar educational program preferred
