Position Summary

The Project Superintendent serves as the primary field leader responsible for directing day-to-day construction activities and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with project requirements. This role requires strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills while maintaining a commitment to quality craftsmanship and client satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will effectively coordinate subcontractors, field personnel, clients, and Project Managers while maintaining a safe, productive, and professional jobsite environment. This position requires travel, as Springfield Builders performs work throughout a 21-state region.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee daily field construction operations from project start through completion

• Coordinate and schedule field employees, subcontractors, suppliers, and material deliveries

• Maintain project schedules and communicate progress to Project Managers and company leadership

• Promote and enforce job site safety for employees, subcontractors, and visitors

• Ensure work is performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards

• Read, interpret, and implement construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents

• Perform refined carpentry and miscellaneous installations as required as a working Superintendent

• Coordinate temporary construction measures and site logistics

• Maintain organized, clean, and professional jobsites

• Monitor field productivity and assist in controlling project costs

• Identify and solve daily construction challenges while minimizing project disruptions

• Coordinate inspections and support project closeout activities

• Build positive working relationships with clients, design professionals, subcontractors, and vendors

• Represent Springfield Builders with professionalism and integrity on every project

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of commercial construction Superintendent experience preferred

• Proven track record of successfully managing commercial construction projects

• Strong references and professional reputation within the construction industry

• Excellent organizational and leadership abilities

• Ability to work independently and make sound field decisions

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

• Experience with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project is preferred

• Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments for extended periods of time

• Ability to travel as required throughout SBI’s service region

• Commitment to safety, quality, professionalism, and client satisfaction

 

Work Environment

• Typical working hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

• Additional hours may be required based on project schedules and construction demands

• Work is performed in active construction environments and outdoor conditions

• Frequent standing, walking, climbing, and physical activity are required

• Travel is required depending on project location
