Job description

Job Summary
Moon Valley Nurseries is seeking an experienced Bucket Truck Tree Foreman to lead a crew in providing safe and efficient tree care services. The foreman will operate a bucket truck to prune, trim, and maintain various tree species, ensuring the highest quality service to our clients. This role requires extensive experience in tree trimming, crew supervision, and a commitment to safety standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Tree Maintenance and Trimming
    • Operate a bucket truck to access trees for trimming, pruning, and removal of dead or hazardous branches.
    • Use hand tools, chainsaws, and other equipment to perform tree care in accordance with industry standards and company guidelines.
    • Ensure the health and aesthetics of each tree by identifying and treating common tree diseases or pest issues.
  2. Safety and Compliance
    • Conduct job hazard assessments and implement safety protocols for each job site.
    • Adhere to all federal, state, and company safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
    • Ensure all crew members are equipped with the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and trained in emergency response procedures.
  3. Team Supervision and Coordination
    • Lead and supervise a team of tree care professionals, providing guidance, training, and support to maintain a high standard of workmanship.
    • Delegate tasks to crew members based on skill levels, ensuring efficient completion of each job.
    • Communicate job plans clearly to the team, setting expectations for daily goals and safety requirements.
  4. Equipment Maintenance and Inspection
    • Perform daily inspections and basic maintenance on the bucket truck, chainsaws, and other equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
    • Report any equipment issues or repairs needed to the Operations Manager promptly.
    • Maintain a clean, organized work environment on the truck and at each job site.
  5. Client and Community Interaction
    • Represent Moon Valley Nurseries professionally with clients and the community.
    • Address customer questions or concerns, providing education on tree care and services offered.
    • Ensure that each site is cleaned and restored to its original condition after work is completed.

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in tree trimming and removal, with at least 1 year operating a bucket truck.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within tree care or a similar field.
  • Strong knowledge of tree species, pruning techniques, and pest/disease management.
  • Proficiency with chainsaws, trimmers, and other tree care tools.
  • Valid [State] driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred.
  • Physical stamina and strength to perform labor-intensive tasks and work at heights.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical requirements/Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds. Able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in possibly extreme conditions, including rain, heat, sun, and wind.
