Job description

BSC Hazardous Materials Coordinator

Reports to: BSC Store Manager

Supervises: N/A

Summary Statement: The HAZMAT Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the safe storage, handling, and distribution of hazardous materials in full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role includes overseeing inventory control, implementing and enforcing safety protocols, and providing training to employees on proper HAZMAT procedures to reduce risks and maintain a safe work environment. The coordinator also performs regular audits to ensure regulatory adherence and operational safety. Success in this position requires strong leadership, meticulous attention to detail, and a solid understanding of environmental and safety regulations to effectively manage HAZMAT operations and promote workplace safety.

Essential Job Functions

  • Accountable for accurate and timely documentation of goods for products received and delivered. Must update all Chemicals in EESOH-MIS database. (Enterprise Environmental Safety & Occupational Health Management).
  • Ensure the proper loading and operations of vehicles in compliance with DOT, OSHA and Hazmat regulations.
  • Timely completion of paperwork associated with receiving and shipping daily.
  • Responsible for loading and unloading products after receiving goods and for delivery.
  • Responsible for accurate, timely, and safe product deliveries.
  • Insure all MSDS sheets are current, and processes are in place that will ensure accurate and timely updates.
  • Operate warehouse equipment and machinery to manage the warehouse and product inventory.
  • Pull inventory, pack product, and prepare product to ship.
  • Communicate with the customer about the placement of the delivery.
  • Responsible for keeping a clean, orderly vehicle and organizing the warehouse and yard materials.
  • Comply with all company and customer safety requirements.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is expected.

Marginal Job Functions

  • Assist other personnel as time and knowledge permit.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Stay current with federal procurement regulations, GSA guidelines, and BSC contract updates.

Education and Work Experience

  • Knowledgeable of EESOH-MIS program
  • Two years of related experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record
  • Must complete (and maintain) forklift certification within 30 days of hire
  • Must obtain First Aid/CPR card
  • Receive RCRA training and respirator certification within 90 days of hire
  • Must pass a government background check and drug screening.
