Job description


  • Scale the engineering organization from approximately 16 engineers to many times that

  • Recruit and retain top-tier engineers in Reno headquarters and remote locations

  • Develop leadership and operating processes for larger-scale engineering, including code reviews, planning cadence, on-call processes, performance reviews, and leveling

  • Work with the CEO and product, operations, and manufacturing leadership to deliver critical business needs through high-quality software

  • Own feature delivery predictability through clear commitments, visible progress, and proactive risk escalation

  • Partner with senior engineers on architecture and technical direction

  • Ensure systems support many teams working in parallel

  • Make frequent trips to the Reno, Nevada headquarters to work on the floor and ship parts in production

  • Interact with employees and supervisors on the production floor as needed


Requirements

  • 15+ years in software engineering

  • 10+ years in engineering leadership

  • Direct experience running an engineering organization through significant growth periods

  • Proven track record of hiring, developing and mentoring engineering managers
