SWJ Technologie specializes in providing engineering, planning, and project management services across various industries. We are currently seeking an AI & Emerging Technology Researcher for an assigned project with a client in the automotive industry. The position is based in Greenville, SC, and requiresan on-site presence at least two days per week, as well as occasional travel to Munich. PURPOSE:
This role is responsible for accelerating and supporting ongoing initiatives in IT innovation and emerging technologies by identifying and defining practical applications to address business-relevant challenges. It involves designing and implementing application prototypes, including front-end, back-end, and machine learning components, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand business needs related to innovation. The role also includes performing advanced software engineering, analytics, data preparation, and machine learning tasks to improve IT products, services, and processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Analyze business-critical data and processes to identify improvement opportunities and recommend solutions.
  • Perform advanced analytics on complex datasets, optimization problems, and system designs.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness, quality, and reliability of data sources and data collection methods.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business outcomes.
  • Partner with internal and external teams to explore innovation opportunities and transition them into prototype and industrialized solutions.
  • Design, develop, and implement custom data models, algorithms, and machine learning solutions.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to deploy and scale solutions.
  • Act as an internal consultant, supporting developers and engineers across all phases of the product lifecycle.
  • Provide guidance on emerging technologies and support team development through mentoring and on-the-job training.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical and non-technical documentation.
  • Communicate requirements, progress, and results clearly to stakeholders with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Support additional tasks as required by leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field (required).
  • Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics, or a related field (preferred).
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • 5+ years of experience in IT or software engineering, including machine learning development.
  • Strong programming expertise (5+ years) in at least one of the following: Python, C++, or C#.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with a focus on IT product development.
  • 3+ years of experience with machine learning techniques and their practical applications, including strengths and limitations.
  • 3+ years of experience in software engineering and system architecture.
  • Strong analytical thinking and experience working with complex datasets.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business insights.
  • Willingness to travel

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
