SUMMARY/SCOPE:
The Biology department is in the Holland School of Sciences andMathematics, and offers baccalaureate degrees in Biology and the Public Health minor.Candidates who can teach non-majors biology, anatomy and physiology, ormicrobiology are needed. Additional specialties may be considered
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach undergraduate courses andlaboratories in Biology, including, but not limited to non-majors biology,anatomy and physiology, and microbiology.
Demonstrate effective teachingstrategies by planning and implementing a variety of teaching methods as wellas assessments.
Maintain accurate records anddocuments and submit timely reports. Records and documents include but are notlimited to syllabi, grades, and office hours.
Know and uphold the policies inthe most current faculty handbook.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors Degree/Undergraduatedegree in Biology required.
Master's degree with at least18 graduate hours a biological field required.
Teaching experience ispreferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
None are required for this position at this time.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The job is sedentary in nature.Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time while performing officeand computer operations.
Must be able to teach in alaboratory setting.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This position is apart-time/temporary adjunct position (no more than 29 hours per week) withteaching load at the Hardin-Simmons University campus.
Must be a resident of the stateof Texas.
