Job description

The ASE Live Stream Engineering team is looking for a Live Stream Broadcast Systems Engineer. Our team powers live streaming experiences in the AppleTV app on Apple platforms and 3rd Party devices. You will contribute to the design and implementation of features, tools, and processes to ensure operational and engineering excellence in delivering live streaming events on the platform. Being a domain expert for live content acquisition, encoding, and delivery, you will drive investigations into any technical issues with the acquisition, ingest, encoding, and delivery. You will work cross-functionally with internal teams to drive new features and processes. Interface with vendors on proof-of-concept evaluations and issue resolution. In this role, the incumbent will also support event-operations teams on live-streaming services. This role will consult on the setup and maintenance of live encoding workflows. You will also work with client teams to ensure features are performing as intended across devices. You will be challenged to diagnose and troubleshoot live video delivery issues with urgency. This role will also work with support teams to craft issue communication with leadership. Troubleshoot complex partner and vendor integrations. Creating, maintaining and executing playbooks, RCAs, and integration specifications.
8+ years experienceAbility to effectively work with cross functional teams to understand requirements and design of highly performant video and media systems using IP based infrastructure, such as SMPTE-2110 and SMPTE-2022-7Deep understanding of live production technologies and buildout of large scale infrastructures focused on live broadcast systemsExperience with video monitoring tools (Video and transport quality monitoring)Expertise with live streaming encoding technologies and transport networks (J2K, JPXS, MPEG, SRT and HLS Protocols)Experience with 4k, HDR and ATMOS in live transmission and streaming environmentsThis role requires full-time, in-office attendance
