Job description

News Intern

WCVB delivers breaking news to Boston-area audiences 24 hours a day across our television newscasts and digital platforms. As an intern, you will gain firsthand experience inside a fast-paced newsroom, learning how stories are developed, produced, and delivered across multiple platforms. You will be expected to actively contribute to daily operations while building a strong foundation in broadcast journalism. In this role, you will gain experience in the following parts of the newsroom:

Assignment Desk

  • Assist team members with content gathering and planning.
  • Gather and organize press releases, emails, phone calls, social media and viewer tips.
  • Develop and pitch story ideas. 

TV News Production

  • Writing and formatting scripts for broadcast.
  • Shadow reporters or anchors in the field when available.

Digital News Production

  • Conduct research and write content for WCVB digital platforms including the WCVB app, WCVB.com and various social media platforms.
  • Assist with photo and video production.
