Position: Estimator - Brighton Homes Meridian, ID

Reports to: Chief Estimator

Direct reports: None

Exempt Status: Salaried Exempt

Overview: Responsible for managing and publishing specifications for jobs and assisting with a variety of purchasing and estimating tasks in support of homebuilding operation.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Create & manage specification workbooks for various plans/product lines. Keeping current with discontinuations, product changes, new plans.
  • Maintain and update various construction-related sales tools for use by Project Coordinator team and / or Sales i.e. option libraries, lighting exhibits, trim exhibits, photos of specifications, feature sheets etc.
  • Work with Design team to obtain job finish selections and customizations for each job.
  • Meet production deadlines by having job specifications prepared and published in time for budget preparation.
  • Upload to Builder Portal the project plans and specifications
  • Notifications to Trades and Team of specification or plans changes and updating Builder Portal with the revised documents.
  • Reviewing Cabinet Shops for compliance with specifications and verify bids align with specifications and budget pricing.
Requirements:

Supportive Tasks

  • Assist AP with review of invoices that don’t align with budget expectations.
  • Issuing POs or VPOs
  • Query data from software to create spreadsheets for use by other team members.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs of plans.
  • Database management of unit costs.

Knowledge and Skills

  • 3–5 years of experience in residential construction.
  • Proficiency in understanding plans, specifications, construction methods, materials, and sequencing
  • High level of comfort working in Excel, Accounting Software and similar tools to organize and analyze data.
  • Hands-on experience with digital takeoff tools (Bluebeam, Autodesk, or similar).
  • Excellent communication, verbal and written skills.
  • Detail orientated and organized to keep deadlines in place.
  • Resourceful in identifying and improving processes.
