Job description

A Bridge Construction Engineer will manage the planning and construction of bridge projects along with the Executive Bridge Superintendent. The ideal candidate will ensure safety, structural integrity, and compliance with engineering standards and regulations throughout all phases of the construction process.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical guidance and support to crews, troubleshoot on-site challenges, and resolve construction issues.
  • Enforcing safety policies and procedures to create a safe work environment for all personnel.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify and mitigate safety hazards.
  • Monitor quality control throughout the project lifecycle to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Lead Project Managers involved in bridge construction.
  • Develop shop drawings, shoring drawings, bracing drawings and grade calculations for bridge construction.
  • Prepare or modify reports, specifications, plans, and construction schedules for projects, including demo and pick plans.
  • Perform structural analysis of bridge projects.
  • Work with the owner's representatives, inspectors, suppliers, and subcontractors to complete projects on time and under budget.
  • Order materials and schedule inspections as necessary throughout the process.
  • Ensure all employees and contractors adhere to company safety policies.
  • Work with Project Management to create look-ahead reports.
  • Help Maintain quantities and track job costs.
  • Work harmoniously, cooperatively, and courteously with others at all times.
  • Follow directions and instructions from supervisors.
  • Perform various tasks and duties that may often change as the work conditions require.
  • Work within defined standards of accuracy.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Skills or Abilities:
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Thorough knowledge of field safety, bridge construction operations, equipment capabilities, and needs.
  • Familiarity with the materials, methods, and techniques relative to bridge construction
  • Knowledge of ODOT and municipal design criteria and standards along with knowledge of AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications, IBC, AISC and AC
  • Communications skills
  • Understand project documents, including construction plans, specifications, MSDS, and other necessary information
  • Ability to build bridge construction projects from general plans and instructions given
  • Capable of determining the proper amounts of various materials, tools, and equipment needed
  • Able to keep organized records and prepare work and time reports daily.
  • Potentially manage multiple projects simultaneously and allocate resources as needed.

Education and Experience:
  • An Oklahoma P.E. License and a minimum of 5 years of experience in bridge construction.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) In-depth
  • In-depth knowledge of bridge construction projects, including scheduling, contract administration, equipment, and workforce.
  • Viewpoint and HCSS (HeavyJob) software skills

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods.
  • Ability to perform frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be able to see and hear well (naturally or with correction)
