Position Details:

As a Bricklayer for RAM Construction Services, you will assist in the revitalization and construction of our surrounding areas. A Bricklayer will perform a variety of tasks that aid in both the completion and success of a project and assistance of team members. You must be able to check specifications, determine the most accurate layout, and mark guidelines. You should also be able to mix mortar powder, sand, clay, and water correctly to obtain an acceptable consistency. To perform this position sufficiently, the employee must be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily. The descriptions below are representative of, but not limited to, the duties and details of this position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Interpreting work orders and determining the materials required.
  • Measuring distance from reference points
  • Calculating angles and determining the vertical and horizontal alignments of courses
  • Laying bricks using mortar as a binder and trowel to level
  • Performing duties such as laying brick, block and terra cotta, tuck pointing, grinding mortar joints, stone patching, caulking and welding.
  • Working safely on scaffolds and swing stages at various heights
  • Lifting objects or materials weighing 60+ pounds.
  • Assisting other skilled trade workers (caulking, waterproofing, etc.) in their performance.
  • Using equipment and tools effectively to perform basic construction task (hand tools and small power tools)
  • Performing other relevant duties as assigned.

Education, Experience & Qualifications Required:

  • This position requires a minimum education level of High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year industry experience on construction sites
  • Knowledge of materials, methods and the tools involved (A minimum of 5 yearsโ€™ experience is required- specifically limestone, granite, terra cotta, and Jahn patching).
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Physically fit to stand for long periods
  • The employee is required to have reliable transportation and a valid Driverโ€™s License- (a valid CDL A is a plus)
  • Employee must have the following tools: 2โ€™ and 4โ€™ level pointing tools, hawk, 3lb hammer, brick hammer, safety harness, tape measure, cape chisel, flat chisel, brick trowel, margin trowel and jointer.

Travel: Some travel is required for this position; the employee must be willing to travel to surrounding job sites. RAM will compensate a per diem for travel and overnight stay if applicable.

Technology: Some technology use may be required. If so, the employee will be properly trained on how to use softwareโ€™s/equipment/etc.

Work Environment: As a Bricklayer for RAM, the employee will be subject to various work environments. Work environments may include but are not limited to the following: seasonal temperatures, high spaces, small spaces, loud and frequent noises, standing/walking for up to 12 hours a day, indoor/outdoor settings, and areas close to traffic..

Following Instructions: Adhering to instructions from superintendents, project managers and construction plans and blueprints.

Cleanliness: Maintaining a clean, organized and hazard free work area

Safety Compliance: Following all RAM health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe work environment.
