Job description

Role Overview

The Branded Environments Designer II brings brand, storytelling, environmental graphics, signage, and wayfinding into the built environment. Working with increasing independence, this role translates a design brief or early concept into accurate, coordinated work that is ready to move forward.

The ideal candidate is a thoughtful, dependable designer who contributes informed ideas, manages assigned work responsibly, communicates clearly, and balances design ambition with project scope, schedule, and budget.

Responsibilities

· Develop branded environment concepts and design solutions across interior environments, environmental graphics, signage, wayfinding, and storytelling.

· Translate design briefs and early concepts into coordinated plans, diagrams, sections, elevations, color studies, schedules, models, and visualizations.

· Support concept development through research, precedent studies, exploration, and iteration.

· Apply principles of form, scale, color, texture, pattern, balance, composition, and proportion to project work.

· Prepare clear, well-crafted presentation materials and contribute to client presentations and working sessions.

· Participate actively in design reviews, charrettes, and pin-ups, offering informed ideas and responding constructively to feedback.

· Conduct site visits, document existing conditions, and take field measurements as needed.

· Coordinate day-to-day design tasks with project teams, internal partners, consultants, fabricators, and vendors, with guidance appropriate to the project.

· Manage assigned workload and deadlines, communicate progress and needs clearly, and raise potential scope, schedule, or coordination issues early.

· Review work for accuracy, completeness, legibility, and alignment with project goals and firm standards.

· Contribute to a collaborative studio culture through curiosity, accountability, and an ongoing commitment to learning.

Qualifications

Experience and Skills

· Typically 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in branded environments, environmental graphic design, experiential design, interior design, architecture, graphic design, or a related field.

· Understanding of how brand strategy, storytelling, environmental graphics, signage, wayfinding, and interior environments come together in the built environment.

· Experience developing design concepts and carrying assigned work through documentation and production.

· Ability to read and develop plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules, and production files.

· Strong visual communication, presentation, organization, and time-management skills.

· Ability to work collaboratively, incorporate feedback, manage multiple assignments, and communicate potential risks or needs early.

· Familiarity with materials, fabrication methods, specifications, and construction coordination is preferred.

Software

· Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, including Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.

· Working knowledge of 2D and 3D design and production tools. Experience with Revit and Rhino is preferred.

· Experience with visualization, digital fabrication, or specialty environmental graphic design tools is a plus.

Education and Credentials

· Degree in graphic design, environmental graphic design, interior design, architecture, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

· LEED Green Associate accreditation is required within six months of hire.

· Professional accreditation in an area of Living Design (such as LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, CPHC/CPHE, or RELi AP) is valued.
