Job description

Join the dynamic SMOSH team as a Full-Time Video Editor on the Business Development team. SMOSH is a leader in digital entertainment, known for our humorous, bold, and inventive content. In this critical role, you'll shape the narrative of our branded content (including short form ads, shorts, and long-form comedy videos on YouTube), blending your creative vision with our signature style. Your editing skills will bring to life content that ranges from 60-90 seconds to over an hour, engaging our diverse and dedicated audience.

Responsibilities:

  • Creative Storytelling: Edit videos from string-out through final delivery, creating polished content that align with SMOSH's unique style and humor.
    • Edit content ranging from 60-90 second ad reads to dedicated videos that are over an hour while balancing narrative pace with comedic timing.
    • Incorporate feedback throughout the revisions process to refine and strengthen each video.
    • Utilize Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and other tools as needed to enhance final deliverables.
    • Edit with brand safety in mind for our external partners (includes making sure that the edit does not include any additional 3rd party IP, bleeping where necessary, and flagging any concerns you see from the footage)
  • Efficient Project Management:
    Complete v1 edits of 60 - 90 second ads within 1-2 days, and long form video edits (40min - 1hr) within 4-5 days, managing multiple projects through revision to ensure timely delivery.
    • Responsible for accurately communicating bandwidth and editing workback schedules for external brand deliverables.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work in synergy with directors, producers, brand partnership & marketing teams, IT and other team members to foster an environment of creativity and innovation.
    • Communicate project progress, ask clarifying questions, and flag potential challenges throughout the editing process.
    • Use tools like Frame.io, Monday.com, and Google Drive to track projects, manage feedback, and keep workflows organized.

Required Skills:

  • Mastery of Adobe Premiere, with proficiency in After Effects and Photoshop; familiarity with Monday.com, Google Drive and Frame.io.
  • Strong experience in digital file management and workflow optimization in editing environments.


Preferred Qualities:

  • Los Angeles-based, with the ability to work on-site at SMOSH offices.
  • Demonstrated expertise in web comedy and a profound grasp of YouTube culture.
