What You'll Be Doing:
  • Lead and develop a team of writers, establishing clear standards, processes, and a strong creative culture while mentoring and growing talent.
  • Own and evolve the Meijer brand voice, including copy guidelines and standards, ensuring consistency and alignment across all channels and communications.
  • Act as the steward of voice quality across both AI-assisted and human-generated content.
  • Operate as a strategic writer and leader, balancing brand, customer, and business needs to guide messaging, storytelling, and communication across initiatives.
  • Translate brand and campaign strategies into clear messaging frameworks and cohesive storytelling across customer touchpoints, informed by customer mindset and journey across channels.
  • Provide narrative direction and conceptual support, partnering with designers and creative teams to ensure ideas are customer-centered and aligned to brand intent.
  • Partner with marketing, merchandising, creative teams, agencies, and legal/compliance to guide messaging, ensure alignment, and translate concepts into high-quality, timely execution while balancing creative expression with business and regulatory needs.
  • Influence and present to stakeholders at all levels to drive clarity and simplicity in complex business and creative challenges.
  • Ensure all written content meets brand standards, business objectives, and timelines, maintaining high levels of clarity, consistency, accessibility, and effectiveness across channels.
  • Support creative leadership in campaign development and execution in collaboration with the broader creative team.
  • Establish and enhance scalable content frameworks, processes, and workflows to improve efficiency and consistency in how the organization communicates.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve team alignment, ways of working, and customer communication effectiveness.
  • Apply cultural, social, and industry insights to evolve the brand voice and ensure messaging remains relevant and resonant with customers.
  • Navigate a complex organizational environment to drive alignment, resolve ambiguity, and advance creative work effectively.

What You'll Be Bringing with You:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, English, Journalism, Advertising, Public Relations, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in copywriting, editing, and evolving brand voice across channels and touchpoints.
  • Passion for language and storytelling, with the ability to inspire others and articulate the role of words in shaping brand perception.
  • Strategic thinker with strong capabilities in planning and narrative development, able to connect brand voice to business and experience goals.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, balancing execution with long-term voice strategy while meeting deadlines.
  • Highly detail-oriented and analytical, with the ability to apply and scale brand tone and voice across audiences and mediums.
  • Understanding of digital experiences, including web user interface, usability principles, and content management systems.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence partners across creative, marketing, merchandising, and external teams.
  • Strong command of grammar, editorial standards (AP Style or similar), and the ability to adapt and define brand-specific guidelines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with voice guidelines, content systems, or documentation frameworks is a plus.
