Job description

Job Title: Wheel and Brake Technician

Job Description

The Wheel and Brake Technician produces reliable, high-quality, airworthy wheel and brake components while maintaining reasonable costs and optimal turnaround times. This role involves detailed mechanical work on small components, following technical documentation, and using a variety of tools and equipment to ensure all work meets stringent quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and disassemble wheel and brake components using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment.
  • Follow work instructions, Component Maintenance Manuals, and Technical Publications to perform maintenance and repair tasks accurately.
  • Use hydraulic presses and pumps, media blasters, drill presses, bead breakers, rivet machines, and torque wrenches to complete assigned work.
  • Work on small, detailed parts with precision, maintaining a high level of focus and attention to detail.
  • Interpret and work from schematics and blueprints to ensure correct assembly and repair processes.
  • Apply mechanical aptitude to diagnose issues and perform corrective actions on components.
  • Perform tasks related to Non Destructive Testing (NDT) as trained or instructed to support inspection and quality control activities.
  • Mix and spray paints and primers in accordance with applicable procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain an individual workbench and keep the work area organized, clean, and compliant with safety and quality standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members while also working independently for extended periods at an individual workstation.
  • Retain and apply technical information and training to continuously improve quality and efficiency.
  • Ensure all work meets internal quality standards and supports the production of airworthy products.

Essential Skills

  • Mechanically inclined with strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to remain focused and pay close attention to detail when working on small and tedious parts.
  • Ability to retain technical information and apply it consistently.
  • Ability to read and comprehend work instructions, Component Maintenance Manuals, and Technical Publications.
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Ability to interpret schematics and blueprints.
  • Mechanical experience, such as automotive mechanics or similar hands-on mechanical experience.
  • Ability to perform assembly and disassembly work on mechanical components.
  • Ability to work well both as part of a team and independently.
  • Ability to work at an individual workbench for long periods.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge or training in Non Destructive Testing (NDT).
  • Knowledge or training in mixing and spraying paints and primers.
  • Experience working with hydraulic presses and pumps, media blasters, drill presses, bead breakers, rivet machines, and torque wrenches.
  • Experience in assembly, mechanical repair, or maintenance environments.
  • No A&P license required.
  • No prior aircraft installation work is required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
