Product Development uses design thinking & user experience methods to deliver breakthrough products and services that delight our customers. We bring innovative, exciting, and sustainable ideas to life. We have opportunities around the world for you to contribute to advancements in autonomy, electrification, smart mobility technologies, and more!
In this position...
You will be responsible for delivering the brake NVH performance for the program(s) you are assigned to. In your role as a noise champion, you will lead a team of suppliers, CAE, D&R and brake development engineers to develop the brake NVH attribute to meet Ford requirements. NVH development at Ford is tied to GPDS timing. We start with CAE in the UNV0-2 phases, progress to dyno testing on the corner dynamometers at TPV and continue to final signoff on DCV vehicles for PEC.
  • The PD Engineer is responsible for managing product release CAD and BOM structures, including assembly positioning and mass attribute analysis. This role also includes facilitating supplier data integration and developing CAD studies to support and drive design improvements.

  • The PD Engineer is expected to understand and effectively utilize product check-in/check-out processes, version control, data release, and change management within Ford's PLM ecosystem.

  • The PD Engineer will perform feasibility analyses using CAD tools, including draft angle analysis, undercut detection, minimum bend radius validation for sheet metal, and clearance checks to support manufacturing and machining requirements.

Responsibilities
What you'll do...
  • Lead the brake NVH development activities for assigned program(s).
  • Develop test plans, manage test parts and test schedules.
  • Review and analyze CAE data, test data and parts.
  • Lead cross functional team through NVH development (CAE, D&R, Suppliers, Development Engineers).
  • Manage Sign-off testing and reporting.
  • Monitor warranty and TGW data for emerging NVH issues.
  • Evaluate brake NVH performance on corner dynos, chassis dynos and vehicles.
  • Work with Core NVH activity to schedule dynos and maximize dyno up time.

Qualifications
You'll have...
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar.
2+ years of NVH CAE and/or foundation brake component experience.
1+ years of CAD experience.
Even better, you may have...
Master's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar.
Experience with Brake NVH dyno and vehicle testing preferred.
Experience in supplier management.
Experience with complex systems, analysis tools & methods.
Experience using Teamcenter (TcE) and/or 3DX.
Experience in using Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint for presentations and data manipulation.
Continuous improvement mindset.
Self-starter who can learn to use new tools and find solutions - ability to troubleshoot & fix vehicle problems.
Outstanding leadership and written and verbal communication skills.
You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!
