POSITION SUMMARY:
As a valued member of the Bucks County Department of Parks and Recreation, the Boat Handler will assist in the maintenance and operation of the boat rental in an efficient and professional manner. Reports directly to the manager and requires significant interaction with the public.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists with the overall operation of boat rental including fee collection, boat rental and completing associated forms and reports.
  • Operates and maintains all boat rental equipment, grounds, docks and office in excellent condition at all times.
  • Operates a POS system and completes daily/weekly financial reports and any others as required.
  • Acquires and maintains certifications or attends training classes as required by the department.
  • Enforces safety standards and emergency procedures for operation of boat rental.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.   • American Red Cross CPR and/or first aid certification a plus. Successful completion of American Red Cross (or Boy Scout) Small Craft Safety program a plus.
  • Familiarity with PA water and boating regulations a plus.
  • Experience with water sport activities and equipment such as sailing, canoeing, rowing and kayaking
  • Possess excellent communication skills.
  • Highly motivated and personable.
  • Must enjoy working with people of all ages and able to handle emergencies or conflicts.
  • Experience in a retail/service oriented business desired.
  • Possess excellent math and bookkeeping skills.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule up to but not exceeding 40 hours a week including weekends and holidays (weather dependent)
  • Current FBI Fingerprint, PA Child Abuse, and PA Criminal Background check clearances as required by law
