What We Offer

This is an on-call position, which means it is a part-time, hourly role. This position will work no more than 39 hours per week. The pay rate for this position $22.62/hour and is eligible to enroll in the City and County of Denver's 457b retirement plan. This position is not eligible for other additional benefits. Oncall positions may have routine or variable work schedules.

Location

In this position you can expect to work on site at one or multiple municipal recreation centers throughout the city of Denver.

Group Fitness Instructors provide instruction in fitness programming, demonstrating proper techniques and methods for participants, and ensuring a safe, fun, and enriching fitness environment. We are currently looking for staff who can teach Spin/Cycle, Pilates, Barre, Essentrics, H.I.I.T., strength-based classes, Boxing, Zumba, Yoga, or any other effective fitness formats. As a Certified Group Fitness Instructor, you will:

  • Lead Structured Classes: Plan and deliver workouts for your approved format, ensuring classes start and finish as scheduled.

  • Coach Safely: Provide clear movement demonstrations, technical safety cues, and modifications to accommodate all fitness levels.

  • Build Community: Create a welcoming, inclusive, and high-energy environment inside and outside the studio.

  • Provide Excellent Customer Service: Serve as an approachable, helpful resource for center patrons, actively welcoming feedback and handling inquiries with a positive attitude.

  • Track Attendance & Time: Clock in and out accurately for your shifts and log weekly class attendance data.

  • Manage Your Schedule: Coordinate all planned and emergency coverage requests proactively through the approved communication channels.

  • Maintain Space and Equipment: Take care of the studio and fitness gear by setting up beforehand, returning items to designated areas, and leaving the space clean and organized.

  • Uphold Professional Standards: Maintain current accredited fitness certifications and CPR, and uphold all operational expectations stated in the employee manual.

  • Handle Incidents: Immediately report any facility damage, participant injuries, or safety issues to site staff and coordinators.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested

What You'll Bring

We are looking for knowledgeable and enthusiastic Certified Group Fitness Instructors who can provide engaging programming, with an eye for safety and fun!

Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:

  • Certifications: Current certification from a nationally recognized, accredited fitness organization (such as ACE, AFAA, Zumba, Spinning, etc.).

  • Safety Credentials: Current CPR and First Aid certification.

  • Experience: Industry-relevant experience planning and leading group fitness classes.

  • Communication: Ability to actively welcome feedback, answer participant questions, and handle conflict with an approachable, positive attitude.

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.

  • Experience: None

  • Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for the minimum education requirement.

  • License/Certifications: Certification as an instructor and/or trainer in yoga, step aerobics, kick boxing, boot camp, hip-hop, interval training, sports performance, strength training, Pilates, Zumba, indoor cycling, core conditioning or any fitness area by a nationally recognized organization. Requires certification in CPR/First Aid at the time of application or within six months hire date. Licensure and certification must be kept current as a condition of employment.
