POSITION OVERVIEW

As a catering prep cook, your role will involve preparing and organizing food items for catering events. You will work closely with the culinary team to ensure that all ingredients are properly prepped and ready for the catering service, contributing to the successful execution of events.

WORK HOURS

This role requires they must be able to work flexible scheduled shifts based on business needs up to 40+/ week. Scheduling can include nights and weekends depending on events and functions. Some travel may be required.

Job Duties:

  • Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner
  • Follow recipes and presentation specifications
  • Operate standard kitchen equipment safety and efficiently
  • Clean and maintain station in practicing good safety and sanitation
  • Assist with the cleaning and organization of kitchen and equipment
  • Restock items as needed throughout the shift
  • Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes
  • Assist in the preparation of high-quality meals for clients and/or applicable accounts
  • Ensure that all food is prepared to the highest standard, and meets nutritional requirements
  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • Assist with inventory management, including ordering and stocking supplies
  • Collaborate with other members of the culinary team to create new and exciting menu items
  • Complete any additional task or job duty assigned to you

Essential Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Must have 3 years cooking experience with 1 year catering experienced preferred
  • Prepare all food items according to recipe cards and prep lists according to The Herb Box standards.
  • Adhere to proper food handling procedures.
  • Maintain proper rotation of food to assure top quality and freshness.
  • Maintain clean and orderly refrigerators and work areas.
  • Make sure the stations are properly cleaned, sanitized, and organized at the end of the shift (including cleaning of equipment).
  • Ensure that all kitchen tools, keys and equipment are returned to their designated secure area.
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment that conforms to all standards and regulations.
  • Adhere to safety policies and accident reporting procedures.
  • Completes all required training.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience as a Prep Cook in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Culinary degree or certification is a plus, but not required

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • The job requires standing for long periods of time, as well as bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • The kitchen environment may be hot and noisy at times
  • The job requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
