Job description

As we continue to grow and scale our operations, we have an excellent opportunity for a new Electronic Manufacturing Engineer in our facility just outside of Omaha, Nebraska. The ideal candidate will bring their hands on engineering and project management expertise as well as their manufacturing know-how to the company. As an Electronic Manufacturing Engineer, your key responsibilities include PCBA (SMT and through-hole) manufacturing processes, cable and box build assembly. This role requires competencies to drive quality, delivery, and cost improvements in manufacturing. 


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support all aspects of electronic and mechanical assembly, including Surface Mount Technology (SMT), through-hole assembly, convection reflow, hardware installation, cleaning, conformal coating, and box build.
  • Resolve manufacturing and process issues.
  • Detail product costs and prepare quoting packages.
  • Develop, qualify, and document new manufacturing processes or modify existing processes to fit the requirements of new products.
  • Work with NPI groups (internal and external) to develop both hardware and electromechanical assemblies, ensuring the designs are reliable, cost effective, and designed for manufacturability and testability.
  • Support Supply Chain with analysis of alternate electrical components and commodity management.
  • Identify, design, procure, and validate fixtures & tools. Support factory equipment selection process to meet production plans.
  • Initiate, take ownership, and complete technical projects leading to new or improved products or processes.
  • Perform process capability assessments and establish methods to control process output.
  • Develop, verify, and validate products from process development to successful commercialization.
  • Train, develop, and/or provide work direction to operators and technicians.
  • Research and recommend new technologies to improve reliability, efficiency and contribute to cost reduction.
  • Communicate business and technical needs, status, results, and observations to operating, technical and business teams.
  • Responsible for process documentation and ensuring it is kept current like Work Instructions, Standard Work documents, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
  • Understand and adhere to the Pivot EDM Quality and EHS policies.
  • Participate in and coordinate CI initiatives, Lean Manufacturing, Problem-Solving, Kaizen events and other improvement activities.
  • Assist in identifying and prioritizing opportunities to improve customer satisfaction, increase net income, enhance productivity, and further employee performance
  • Serve as the point of contact for specific project initiatives and best practices.



EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering and 3-7 years of experience.
  • Ability to organize and to prioritize work based on business needs.
  • Strong analytical skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to listen well and to communicate simply and effectively.
  • Able to interpret and create electronic schematics, assembly, and fabrication drawings.
  • Basic working knowledge of printed circuit board manufacturing including Gerber files and CAM software.
  • Basic working knowledge of CAD (SolidWorks or other) software.



ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports directly to the Operations and Engineering Manager and communicates frequently with employees at all levels. This person must be able to interface effectively with managers, office employees, production employees, suppliers, customers, and other individuals inside and outside of the organization.

 


PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Mental

  • Performs highly complex and varied work in the office and manufacturing setting in a variety of situations as well as exercise of independent judgment. 
  • Must have the ability to analyze situations and respond to problems to ensure internal and external customer requirements are met.
  • Must be able to make decisions and judgments based on data or, in some instances, a lack of data.

Physical

  • This position requires work in the office and a manufacturing environment. 
  • Interfaces with other managerial, office and hourly employees on a regular basis with various forms of communication. 
  • Must be able to move about to accomplish facility/customer or supplier tours and evaluations. Requires the ability to visually inspect parts, product, and processes. 
  • Occasionally lifts 25 pounds and may stand or sit for sustained periods up to several hours. 
  • Must be able to work in front of a computer.
  • Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.


Job Type: Full-time, first shift


Pay: $75K - $100K based on experience and qualifications
