The Lincolnton, NC Conversion, Customizing and Packaging Center is located approximately 30 miles from Charlotte, NC. This facility employs 400+ full time associates in a 5-shift operation, which encompasses 235,000 sq ft. along with 12,000 SKU's.  In addition to the conversion, customizing and packaging activities, abrasives are now a big part of our power tool accessory business.  ISO certified, our associates engage

Job Description

Work in a team environment to aid the production process by managing various stations of the Belt & Pack machine. Including:

  • Cut to Length
  • Skiving Unit
  • Belt Packaging

Responsibility for the machine set up related to the Belt Conversion value stream including: quality, BPS/6S, and TPM

        Overall belt joint quality based on defined standards/conversion sheet specs.

        Set up and adjusting of machine aggregates based on specifics related to product
        type (skiving depth, grinding depth, glue application, tape placement, packaging aesthetics)

        Hourly reporting of machine outputs and downtimes

        To make suggestions and recommendations about improvements

 Duties

        Complete set up of Belt & Pack Packaging and Belt-Joining Lines

        BPS/6S/Value Stream/CIP continuous improvement

        Multi tasking (pre and post processing)

        Make adjustments at various stages of the production process to meet quality expectations

Responsible for gaining and maintaining general knowledge of machines throughout the conversion area. You are responsible for completing the required training measures (PQ&T) as they are needed.

You are responsible for maintaining the appropriate BPS Standards and 6S Standards.

As a Bosch associate working in the conversion department, you are expected to maintain a positive work environment by following the appropriate safety procedures. You must be open and willing to assist others throughout the department. Required to meet daily goal standards.

Working on different stations of the machine as required

Loading machine as needed

Changing slitter blades and sleeves

Operate pin lift and pallet lift

Set up, start, and operate machines successfully

Make adjustments to stations as needed

Troubleshoot machine issues and make minor repairs according to escalation plan

Reading and following standard operating procedures pertaining to the machine being operated

Follow the appropriate quality standards and measures for the machine being operated

Understand and following procedures pertaining to machine cleanliness and tool organization

Maintaining knowledge of all safety procedures associated with the machine being operated

Qualifications

Must be flexible and able to adapt quickly

General Math skills

Ability to multitask You must be able to stand for a minimum of 8 hours a day and also have excellent use of your hands.

Ability to read and follow instructions

Ability to lift (up to) 40lb. boxes

High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school required

Prefer experience in machine operations

Additional information

Setting up and operating all components of the machine successfully.  Replenishing materials as needed (tape, die-cut folders, glue, slit rolls, ant-theft sensotags).  Placing packaged belts into cartons / Loading raw materials into the machine.  Loading / Unloading pallets.  Operate pin lift and pallet lift.  Making the necessary adjustments to run machine efficiently.  Reading and following standard operating procedures pertaining to the machine.  Detect and determine the appropriate quality standards and measures for each stage of the process.  Understanding and following procedures pertaining to machine cleanliness and tool organization.  Being willing to operate a variety of machines on an as needed basis.  Maintaining knowledge of safety procedures associated with each machine, including but not limited to: Safety guards, emergency stops, and use of green locks

Machine has a feeding system by clamp beam working on idle conveyor, the system is motorized. The feeding clamp beams are placed one before and one after cutting head.

Touch screen parameters provide the possibility to set material width in between the cuts (trim), to have the minimum waste as possible. A recipe menu provide the possibility to save machine setup data for each combination: shape size, master web width, material type, etc. The operator has only to recall the desired recipe to start a new machine setup.
