Position DescriptionAudits construction project records; verifies contractor compliance with state and federal requirements and trains others. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Essential Duties:Const Records Auditor I:
- Advises contractors' bookkeepers on record-keeping procedures.
- Assists with Federal Highway Administration and departmental reviews of construction records and may act as liaison with this agency.
- May serve as chief construction records auditor in a district headquarters.
- May serve as District DBE Coordinator.
- Monitors material testing requirements, results and reports for compliance with specifications and standards.
- Participates in meetings regarding contract administration.
- Performs and reviews construction records audits and coordinates with area engineers on monthly and final estimates, change orders, supplemental agreements and work orders.
- Prepares related correspondence and reports.
- Trains less experienced recordkeepers and records auditors.
- Verifies contractors' compliance with federal requirements for EEO and the on-the-job training, Disadvantaged Business Enterprise and Small Business Enterprise programs.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Const Records Auditor II:
In addition to the duties listed above
- Assists area engineers by providing direction and technical expertise in resolving contract administration problems.
- Performs final review of contracts.
Const Records Auditor III and IV:
In addition to the duties listed above
- Acts as liaison and assists with Federal Highway Administration and departmental reviews of construction records.
- Coordinates the work of recordkeepers and/or records auditors and support staff.
- May lead project or planning activities of professional and technical employees.
Minimum Qualifications:Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.
Experience:
Const Records Auditor I: No experience required.
Const Records Auditor II: 1 YEAR Record-keeping, bookkeeping, auditing or other related experience.
Const Records Auditor III: 2 YEARS Record-keeping, bookkeeping, auditing or other related experience.
Const Records Auditor IV: 3 YEARS Record-keeping, bookkeeping, auditing or other related experience.
Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis . Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

- Analyzing issues, facts, and available information to develop logical solutions; researching inconsistencies of facts or data; drawing correct inferences from information and making recommendations that support business decisions

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Const Records Auditor I, II, III, or IV:
- Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
- Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs
