Job description

Bookkeeper / Accounting Lead – Multi-Entity Real Estate
Overview
We’re hiring a Senior Bookkeeper / Accounting Lead to handle the day-to-day accounting for a growing real estate platform with approximately 25 commercial properties.
This role is focused on keeping the books clean, accurate, and current across multiple entities. You’ll own core accounting functions—AP, AR, payroll, reconciliations, and monthly reporting—while providing light support to property-level financial tracking.
This is not a property management role. It’s a numbers-first position for someone who takes pride in organization, accuracy, and consistency.
What You’ll Be Responsible For:
Day-to-Day Accounting:
  • Enter and code vendor bills, process payments, and manage AP workflow.
  • Track incoming payments, monitor receivables, and follow up on collections.
  • Maintain general ledgers across multiple entities.
  • Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Process payroll and maintain payroll records.
  • Keep financials clean, categorized, and up to date at all times.

Monthly Close & Reporting:
  • Prepare monthly:
    • Profit & Loss statements.
    • Balance Sheets.
  • Assist with closing out each month in a timely manner.
  • Ensure financials are accurate and ready for ownership review.
  • Maintain organized digital records and supporting documentation.

Portfolio Support (Secondary Focus):
  • Track rent payments and tenant balances.
  • Assist with billing and basic lease-related entries.
  • Support CAM tracking and reconciliations when needed.
  • Coordinate with property management on tenant accounts.

Administrative & Financial Support:
  • Track recurring expenses and ensure timely payments.
  • Monitor key items like insurance, taxes, and vendor obligations.
  • Organize records for CPA and year-end tax preparation.
  • Assist with basic reporting requests from ownership.

What We’re Looking For:
Experience:
  • 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
  • Experience managing multiple accounts or entities.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • AP / AR
    • Reconciliations
    • General ledger structure

Nice to Have (Not Required):
  • Real estate or property management experience.
  • Familiarity with tenant billing or CAM.
  • Experience working in a small team or entrepreneurial environment.

Systems & Tools:
  • QuickBooks (required).
  • Excel / Google Sheets.
  • Payroll systems.
  • Property management software (helpful but not required.)

Who You Are:
  • Detail-oriented to a fault—you catch things others miss.
  • Consistent and reliable with follow-through.
  • Comfortable working independently.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple moving pieces.
  • Prefer clear structure and take pride in clean, accurate work.

Why This Role Works:
  • Clear expectations and consistent workflow.
  • Stable, long-term position with a growing company.
  • Opportunity to take ownership of accounting processes.
  • Exposure to real estate without needing deep industry experience.

Position Scope:
You’ll be responsible for maintaining the books across a portfolio of ~25 properties and related entities, ensuring everything is accurate, organized, and up to date.
