This job is often performed to convert old, handwritten, or printed books into editable text files for archiving, publishing, or e-book creation. Accuracy and attention to detail are important as typists need to ensure that the digital version matches the original text. Book typists may work for publishers, libraries, or individuals looking to digitize their literary materials.

What is a book typing job?

Book typing jobs involve typing manuscripts for publishing companies or book authors. In some book typing positions, you type up handwritten text from authors or editors into a document program. Some companies hire book typers to convert printed books into ebooks. In addition to correctly typing the document on a computer, you may have to format the text to meet publishing requirements. Accuracy is essential to this position, and you often proofread and cross-check your work before turning in the finished project.
