Position Overview
As a Generac Generator Technician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and repair of generators (mostly residential, some commercial and industrial). Great customer service and communication skills with internal staff especially when interacting with company clientele. Prepare accurate estimates after diagnosing & troubleshooting for potential repairs. Responsible for completing and uploading service reports into company CRM. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. This is for our Commercial department and will require travel within RI, MA and CT.
Essential Job Functions
Installation and Maintenance:
  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair systems according to specifications and codes.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure accurate and efficient completion of projects.
  • Reassemble and test equipment following repairs

Technical Expertise:
  • Stay updated on industry advancements, technologies, and best practices.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in diagnosing malfunctioning and troubleshooting systems using hand tools and testing equipment to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Adjust or replace worn or defective mechanisms and parts, and reassemble repaired systems.

Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure that all work meets regulatory standards, safety protocols, and company service system guidelines.
    • Conduct quality inspections and implement corrective actions as needed.
    • Calculate the cost of service for the customer using flat rate price book and handle money collection from customer.
    • Read blueprints to determine location, size, capacity, and type of components needed to complete the job.

Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including parts used, time spent, and any additional relevant information.
  • Record and report all faults, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences, as well as the time and materials expended on work orders.
  • Provide detailed reports to supervisors and clients as required.

Collaboration:
  • Work closely with other team members, including apprentices and technicians, to achieve project goals.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, project managers, and clients.
  • Receive calls from dispatch and respond to customer service calls.

Safety Compliance:
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to create a secure work environment.
  • Participate in safety training sessions and contribute to a safety-conscious culture.
  • Use trade specific tools in a safe manner.

Continuous Learning:
  • Pursue ongoing education and training opportunities to enhance skills and stay abreast of industry developments.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Generac certified
  • Journeyman License is required
  • Proficient in trouble shooting and repair of Generac generators
  • 2-3 years' experience working in Residential or Commercial
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Must be enrolled in or completed required trade school as required by state apprentice regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex issues in the field.
  • Familiarity with local and national codes and regulations.

Working Conditions
Environment
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud
  • Evening and/or early morning, and/or weekend/holiday hours periodically
  • Will work both indoors and outdoors in various climate conditions ranging from very cold to very hot and humid
  • Full time, 8-hour shift, with some overtime available
