Intern Summary
The psychology intern will provide professional psychological services for patients with serious mental illness admitted to the Caro Psychiatric Hospital. The psychology intern will work closely with members of the interdisciplinary treatment teams providing assessment/diagnostic information, assisting in treatment planning and program development, and delivery of therapeutic services including individual and group therapy.
Responsibilities:
Psychology intern job duties include but are not limited to:
  • Planning and conducting treatment groups for patients as part of the Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) program and other group therapy as indicated by patient needs.
  • Conducting individual therapy as indicated by patient need.
  • Developing Behavior Treatment Plans based on patient need and training staff in the implementation of the interventions as indicated.
  • Documenting progress on the various treatment modalities as indicated by departmental guidelines and/or hospital policy.

Completing documentation for each group and individual therapy session and weekly/monthly progress notes.
Required Education and Experience
At the time of internship, must be currently enrolled pursuing your master's degree or higher in one of the below areas of study:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field; and enrolled in a psychology master's degree program. OR master's degree in psychology with Temporary Limited License Psychologist credential.
Alternate Education and Experience
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Must be actively enrolled in a college and university.

  • Must have achieved at least a bachelor's degree and meet the qualifications of the learning institution, and preferentially, are enrolled in a Master's program.

  • The academic major must be consistent with the area of which the student is seeking an internship (Psychology)

  • Must provide a copy of respective academic institution's Internship Agreement outlining internship objectives and academic instructor's name and telephone learning institution, and preferentially, are enrolled in a graduate program.

  • Must have satisfactory criminal history and protective services background check.

  • Must possess a valid & unrestricted driver's license.
