Job description

The Pro Bono Coordinator is a key member of the firmwide Pro Bono Department and is responsible for supporting the administration and operations of the firm's pro bono program. In close collaboration with members of the Pro Bono Department, the Coordinator supports attorneys, and interfaces regularly with business professionals and external partners to facilitate the delivery of pro bono legal services.
The Pro Bono Coordinator performs responsibilities under the general supervision and direction of the Department. The Pro Bono Department is led by Senior Counsel, and includes Pro Bono Counsel, Pro Bono Attorney and a Pro Bono Program Lead. A successful candidate is committed to collegiality, professional development, and the advancement of the pro bono program. This is a non-JD role.
Key Responsibilities
Operational and Administrative Support
โ€ข Support with staffing, administration and operational management of pro bono matters, including pro bono legal clinics and pro bono projects.
โ€ข Assist with the coordination and execution of pro bono events, including clinics, trainings, and special projects.
โ€ข Serve as a resource on the firm's pro bono policies for attorneys and staff.
โ€ข Compile case lists for departing attorneys and monitor responses to ensure cases are properly transitioned, under the guidance of Pro Bono Department attorneys.
โ€ข Maintain inventory of pro bono training opportunities and assist in connecting attorneys to trainings relevant to their pro bono matters, under the guidance of Pro Bono Department attorneys.
โ€ข Assist with updating training materials and templates on internal resource pages;
โ€ข Assist with internal and external marketing efforts, including maintaining a list of matters for inclusion in pro bono newsletters.
Database and Reporting Support
โ€ข Maintain and update databases and systems used by the Pro Bono Department, including Paladin, SharePoint, email distribution lists, the Matter Intelligence System, as well as select spreadsheets.
โ€ข Track compliance with engagement letters and disengagement letters requirement, and maintain documentation.
โ€ข Secure status report from departing attorneys on all open pro bono matters in which they have billed time or served in a supervisory role.
Required Skills
โ€ข Bachelor's degree required.
โ€ข Minimum of 2 years of related practice support experience in a law firm or legal services organization preferred.
โ€ข Advanced working knowledge of MS Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint preferred.
โ€ข Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
โ€ข Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks deadlines.
โ€ข Ability to prioritize work, adjust to changing priorities, work independently and collaboratively, and manage multiple time-sensitive projects.
โ€ข Demonstrated ability to proactively identify issues, develop practical solutions, and deliver results.
โ€ข Demonstrated interest in pro bono, either through prior employment or volunteer opportunity preferred.
โ€ข Excellent interpersonal skills and sensitivity to the complexities of legal representations.
โ€ข Demonstrated enthusiasm for learning about and contributing to program development and the provision of pro bono legal services.
โ€ข Demonstrated poise and professionalism when interacting with attorneys, staff, clients, and external partners.

Work Schedule
โ€ข Generally 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
โ€ข Hybrid work schedule, currently four days per week in the New York office, subject to firm policy.
โ€ข Occasional overtime may be required.
โ€ข Position is based in the New York office.
Salary
$75,000 - $85,000 (non-exempt). Paul, Weiss offers competitive compensation and benefits packages. The firm considers a number of factors when determining compensation, including, but not limited to, education, years of experience, levels of experience, competency levels and other relevant skills and qualifications.
