Doctor of Audiology – Balance Center
Position: Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) – Vestibular & Balance Services

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) to join our growing
Balance Center. This position will play a key role in developing and providing comprehensive vestibular,
balance, hearing, and tinnitus services to patients.
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in vestibular diagnostics and enjoy working in a
multidisciplinary environment with physicians, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
The Doctor of Audiology will be responsible for performing comprehensive diagnostic evaluations,
identifying hearing and vestibular disorders, interpreting test results, developing appropriate treatment
recommendations, and coordinating care with referring physicians and rehabilitation professionals.
This is an excellent opportunity for an audiologist interested in helping develop a comprehensive hearing
and balance center and establishing a high-quality vestibular program.
Essential Responsibilities
Vestibular & Balance Services
•
Perform comprehensive vestibular and balance evaluations.
•
Conduct and interpret vestibular diagnostic testing, including:
•
Videonystagmography (VNG)
•
Oculomotor testing
•
Positional testing
•
Caloric testing
•
Vestibular screening
•
Computerized dynamic posturography, when applicable
•
Video Head Impulse Testing (vHIT)
•
Rotary chair testing, when applicable
•
Other appropriate vestibular assessments.
•
Evaluate patients presenting with dizziness, vertigo, imbalance, motion sensitivity, falls, and other
vestibular complaints.
•
Identify findings consistent with peripheral and/or central vestibular dysfunction.
•
Provide appropriate recommendations based on test results.
•
Communicate diagnostic findings clearly with patients, families, and referring providers.
•
Coordinate vestibular rehabilitation referrals when appropriate.
•
Participate in development of individualized treatment and management plans.

Maintain appropriate documentation and detailed diagnostic reports.
Audiology Services
•
Perform comprehensive diagnostic hearing evaluations.
•
Perform pure-tone air and bone conduction testing.
•
Conduct speech audiometry and immittance testing.
•
Evaluate patients for hearing loss and auditory disorders.
•
Provide hearing aid consultations, fittings, programming, and follow-up services.
•
Perform real-ear/probe microphone measurements when appropriate.
•
Provide tinnitus assessment and counseling.
•
Provide custom hearing protection and earmold services.
•
Educate patients and families regarding hearing loss and communication strategies.
•
Monitor hearing status and make appropriate medical or specialty referrals.
Patient Care
•
Establish a professional, compassionate relationship with patients.
•
Explain test procedures and results in understandable terms.
•
Educate patients regarding their diagnosis and treatment options.
•
Recognize conditions requiring medical referral or additional diagnostic evaluation.
•
Maintain a patient-centered approach throughout the evaluation and treatment process.
•
Provide appropriate follow-up and continuity of care.
Physician & Clinical Collaboration
•
Develop strong professional relationships with referring physicians and healthcare providers.
•
Communicate vestibular and audiologic findings effectively with referring providers.
•
Prepare professional diagnostic reports.
•
Assist physicians in the evaluation and management of patients with dizziness, vertigo, hearing loss,
tinnitus, and balance disorders.
•
Work collaboratively with physical therapists, occupational therapists, neurologists,
otolaryngologists, primary care providers, and other healthcare professionals.
•
Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions when appropriate.
Clinical Development
The Doctor of Audiology will have the opportunity to assist in the development and expansion of the
Balance Center's clinical programs.
Responsibilities may include:
•
Developing vestibular testing protocols.
•
Establishing clinical procedures and quality-control standards.
•
Helping select and implement vestibular diagnostic equipment.
•
Developing patient education materials.
•
Establishing relationships with referring physicians.
•
Participating in community education and professional outreach.

Assisting with marketing and physician referral development.
•
Helping develop new balance and vestibular services as the center grows.
Qualifications
Required
•
Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree from an accredited program.
•
Current state licensure as an audiologist in Pennsylvania.
•
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-A), when applicable.
•
Strong clinical knowledge of audiologic evaluation and hearing disorders.
•
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
•
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Preferred
•
Clinical experience performing vestibular evaluations.
•
Experience with VNG/ENG testing.
•
Experience with vHIT.
•
Experience with rotary chair testing.
•
Experience with computerized balance assessment.
•
Experience working with patients experiencing dizziness and falls.
•
Vestibular rehabilitation knowledge or experience.
•
Experience working with ENT, neurology, physical therapy, or other balance-related specialties.
•
Experience developing or expanding a vestibular program.

Physical Requirements
The position requires the ability to:

Assist with appropriate patient positioning during vestibular testing.

Safely work with patients who may have mobility or balance difficulties.

Occasionally assist patients with transfers or positioning in accordance with appropriate safety
procedures.

Operate audiologic and vestibular diagnostic equipment.
