Machine Operator – Saw Operations (2nd Shift)

Job Description

This role operates saws and related equipment in a production environment, focusing on loading parts, performing manual outside operations, and ensuring parts meet precise dimensional and quality standards. You will work with calibrated measuring tools, follow written instructions, and contribute to a lean manufacturing culture on a consistent 2nd shift schedule with regular overtime.

Shifts Available

Monday - Friday : 2:15 PM - 10:45 PM (+ regular overtime opportunity)

Responsibilities

  • Operate saws and related machinery in a dedicated saw area to process parts according to specifications.
  • Load and unload parts safely and efficiently to support continuous production flow.
  • Perform outside operations such as drill press work and deburring to prepare and finish parts.
  • Use electric drills to drill and tap products accurately and consistently.
  • Use a torque or standard wrench to bolt down fixtures into T-plates and secure workpieces properly.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments, including calipers, depth gauges, thread gauges, pin gauges, micrometers, and other tools to verify dimensional accuracy.
  • Conduct dimensional inspections to ensure parts meet quality and tolerance requirements.
  • Follow written instructions, work orders, and standard operating procedures to complete tasks correctly and on time.
  • Apply basic math skills to interpret measurements, perform conversions, and verify part dimensions.
  • Support and follow lean manufacturing practices to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities aligned with lean and Six Sigma principles.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Adapt to working in a high-volume production environment with repetitive tasks while maintaining focus on safety and quality.
  • Troubleshoot basic issues with setups or parts and seek assistance for more complex challenges.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to learn processes, share best practices, and meet production goals.

Essential Skills

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably with machine operation and saw operation.
  • Hands-on experience operating band saws or similar cutting equipment.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, depth gauges, thread gauges, pin gauges, and micrometers.
  • Ability to perform dimensional inspection to verify part accuracy and quality.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and practices.
  • Understanding of lean Six Sigma concepts in a production setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.75 - $21.75/hr.
