Job description

Purpose and Scope:
Perform extensive maintenance, cleaning, tuning, overhaul and repair, of both fire-side and water-side boiler sections for year-round continuous boiler operations in a 24-hour per day, 7 days per week operating environment. Perform setup, start-up, and removal of portable boilers as required. Must additionally be able to perform all duties of a general Boiler Operator for boilers ranging from small electric type to large natural gas fired units.
Essential Responsibilities:
Perform general preventive maintenance of boiler systems, such as but not limited to: cleaning of fuel oil strainers, adjustment and cleaning of burners, and maintenance of associated feed water systems.
Perform monthly test of safety relief valves on all operating boilers.
Aid in performing annual boiler inspections, including annual certification of safety relief valves.
Perform general maintenance and repair of boilers and associated systems.
Employ instrumentation and trouble-shooting skills to detect and resolve boiler anomalies.
Possess ability to tune boilers for maximum efficiency, including performing and analysis of monthly combustion tests
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
