Job description

This position is responsible for:
  • Approaching work with a Continuous Improvement (CI) mindset, and engaging in Model Dairy Mission Statement to identify, value, prioritize, resource and sustain improvement opportunities.
  • Conforms to and has department conform to Model Dairy quality standards.
  • Updates and monitors a preventative maintenance program for the Reno plant facility.
  • Helps relieve and cover maintenance department vacations to minimize overtime costs.
  • Coordinates the day-to-day preventative maintenance requirements and must have proficiency in all maintenance jobs.
  • Through a parts clerk, establishes parts ordering requirements to ensure that adequate supplies of appropriate spare parts are kept in stock.
  • Develops a maintenance related training schedule for production team members and assists in their technical training as needed.
  • Assists in troubleshooting as needed on plant equipment. Performs needed repairs when required. Researches, suggest, and implements system upgrades.
  • Analyzes malfunctioning machines and systems (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, etc.) and makes necessary repairs, adjustments, modifications, subject to management approval.
  • Repairs production equipment, plant equipment, and related facilities as directed. This includes boilers, air compressors and refrigeration systems.
  • Analyzes and repairs specialized equipment heavily dependent on electrical controls, microprocessors, controls, electro-mechanical mechanisms, and related components under general direction.
  • Maintains a working understanding of plant production processes, equipment systems and facilities, in order to perform maintenance effectively under general directions.
  • Has sufficient knowledge to be able to operate equipment for diagnostic and break relief as required.
  • Performs all work in a safe and professional manner and reports safety deficiencies immediately.
  • Order parts and materials as required for assigned tasks.
  • Maintains professional and appropriate dress, hygiene and personal appearance.

Minimum:
  • A High school diploma or GED
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English. Ability to read, write and speak in Spanish a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able to work Saturday.

Preferred:
  • Previous public relations/customer service experience.
  • Previous experience with XATA, ADI or any handheld device.
