Job description

GD Resources LLC is seeking experienced Certified Boiler Plant Operators to operate, monitor, and maintain boiler plant equipment supporting the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center.

Responsibilities
  • Operate water-tube and/or fire-tube boilers and associated equipment.
  • Start, regulate, and secure boilers.
  • Adjust combustion controls and maintain proper steam pressure and temperature.
  • Operate natural gas and fuel-oil systems.
  • Test boiler water and perform required chemical treatment.
  • Inspect pumps, valves, burners, feedwater systems, condensate systems, and safety devices.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Respond to boiler alarms and emergency conditions.
  • Maintain daily operating, water chemistry, safety-device, and incident logs.
  • Troubleshoot boiler plant electrical and mechanical systems.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current certification/license appropriate for boiler plant operations.
  • Minimum 5 years of trade experience, including commercial or hospital experience.
  • Experience operating commercial or institutional boiler plants.
  • Knowledge of boiler safety devices, combustion systems, water treatment, pumps, valves, and controls.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to meet VA mandatory training and facility requirements.
Work Schedule

Candidates must be available for:

  • 1st Shift: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
  • 2nd Shift: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM
  • 3rd Shift: 11:30 PM – 8:00 AM

The position supports a 24-hour VA operation.
