Job description

AMPI owns six Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation’s American-type cheese and processed cheese is produced. The cooperative’s award-winning cheese and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled cheesemakers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES           

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  1. All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
  2. This position has a heightened food safety and food quality responsibilities.
  3. Perform all duties related to boiler operation, maintenance, recordkeeping to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable performance of boilers.
  4. Perform preventative maintenance.
  5. Keep chemical pumps in working order.
  6. Manage ammonia compressors and the ammonia refrigeration system to achieve required temperatures.
  7. Perform maintenance on the Ammonia Refrigeration system in accordance with standard operating and safety procedures.
  8. Play an active role in the Emergency Response Team.
  9. Communicate effectively with supervisors, other shifts, and various departments.
  10. Maintain proper documentation in all formats of recordkeeping.
  11. Assist coworkers assigned departmental tasks and provide general housekeeping support throughout the plant.
  12. Help train new employees as needed.
  13. Support maintenance personnel when needed with machine repairs and troubleshooting.
  14. Assist with process troubleshooting and serve as a technical resource when required.
  15. Adhere to all Quality, Food Safety, GMP, and AMPI Safety Polices & Procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
  16. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), preferred.
  • Must have a valid Minnesota Boiler Operators license, 1st Class B or above.
