Entry-Level Software Engineer-Developer

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for an Entry Level Software Engineer - Developer to join the Special Projects Dallas (SPD) P-8A Poseidon Maritime Patrol Aircraft Advanced Airborne Sensor (AAS) team in Richardson, TX.
At Boeing, our software engineers use their expertise to dream up next generation software capabilities for some amazing aerospace platforms. The Boeing SPD AAS team provides the mission systems software that runs on the P-8A to provide the warfighter the ability to perform mission and tactic planning, interface with the sensor, display sensor data to the operator, and replay missions. The team also provides the capability to train fleet operators on the AAS mission by adding simulations to the baseline P-8 Training system. In this role, you will execute the full lifecycle development, including software engineering life-cycle design, development, integration and maintenance support for the P-8A AAS Mission Systems contracts.
The candidate must be comfortable working independently in a challenging, fast-paced environment. This position requires a lot of collaboration with other teams and the customers, requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills. The candidate will support the training devices in Richardson as well as retrofitting the training devices at customer sites.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Partners with hardware, software, and systems engineering to design, develop, troubleshoot, and tests P-8A AAS Mission Systems and Training Systems software
  • Assists with the development, documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
  • Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system
  • Assists with test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience in software development
  • Experience using Java

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 0+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 4+ years of directly related work experience OR 8+ years of related, relevant experience
  • Active U.S. Top Secret Clearance
  • Experience with development of C/C++ and/or Linux Operating Systems
  • Experience with development of OpenGL
  • Experience in AGILE/DevOps methodologies
  • Experience in Real-Time Algorithm implementation
  • Experience in Development, documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, interfaces and designs for software systems
