Job description

CT Technologist

Operates computed tomography (CT) equipment to process cross-sectional images of the patient's body for diagnostic purposes. Performs diagnostic CT examinations according to departmental policies and protocols. Screens, prepares, and positions patients for CT procedures with reference to diagnoses and body parts. Knowledgeable of all CT equipment, including the laser camera. Evaluates CT studies for quality and completeness. Utilizes advanced image manipulations such as 3D rendering, reformation, and reconstruction. Understands image display and filming options. Recognizes and rectifies CT imaging and filming problems. Sends images to the PACS system, evaluates exams for completeness, and verifies exams in a timely manner. Develops a working knowledge of all PACS capabilities. Maintains accurate documentation in a logbook worksheet, including charging of examinations and all supplies. Appropriately administers contrast media as directed by the radiologist. Maintains radiation safety for patients, staff, and family members. Is responsive to patient physical and psychological needs. Keeps patients informed and explains all procedures clearly without causing unnecessary anxiety. Listens to and answers patient questions with patience and courtesy. Seeks advice from appropriate resources when unsure of protocols or policies. Maintains a clean and appropriately supplied work area. Exercises independent judgment in planning the sequence of operations and making decisions in a complex technical field. Works directly with patients and customers. Interacts with internal and external customers via telephone or face-to-face. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals and staff.

Experience: 0 to 6 months of related experience License: Registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R) Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - Knowledge of anatomy and physiology - Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively
