Job description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Break down estimates into labor and parts before job is started so body men are aware of time allowances.
  • Follow up parts department orders to insure parts availability.
  • Revise and approve time allowances of each job.
  • Assist with quality check of completed jobs.
  • Prepare final billing for completed repair orders.
  • Responsible for aiding the Body Shop Manager in the daily activities of the shop. These include: communications with technicians, painters, other departments with-in the dealership, insurance company representatives, parts wholesalers, and especially customers.
  • Investigate new equipment and tools in the field and recommend purchases.
  • Forecast goals and objectives for the department.
  • Check the general Body Shop appearance (outside and inside).
  • Estimate writing, repair selling, job scheduling, completion date notification, repair order billing, filing, problem solving, phone answering, supplement authorization and follow-up, weekly payroll, Quality Control maintenance and continual education in the Body Shop Industry.
  • Examine Body Shop ROs and other paperwork in Body Shop Office.
  • Make occasional inspections of completed ready-for-delivery body work. (Is the quality and general appearance of car acceptable?).

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
  • Two years experience in a dealership estimator position preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
