Job Summary:


The Engineer, Body Electronics Design is responsible for the end-to-end electrical hardware design and development of vehicle body electronics systems, including modules, sensors, and actuators for a new vehicle line. This role oversees components throughout the entire product lifecycleโ€”from concept development and virtual design to testing, validation, manufacturing launch, and production support.


  • Be responsible for the electrical hardware design of all body electronics modules, sensors, and actuators under your span of control. From concept design through virtual development, testing/sign-off and manufacturing launch for new vehicles.
  • Work with Purchasing and Finance counterparts to develop technical specifications in support of the quoting and sourcing process.
  • Work with Tier 1 suppliers, key OEM Group module owners, and OEM Group lead design & release engineers to release all appropriate body electronics components.
  • Perform virtual and physical verification testing, including field testing.
  • Participate in DFMEA, ISO 26262, Worst Case Circuit Analysis and any other engineering activities aimed at meeting the highest engineering standards for all the components under your responsibility.
  • Ensure designs conform to safety standards and U.S. government regulations.
  • Proactively stay attuned to consumer experience and propose system improvements accordingly.
  • Manage supplier resources efficiently to deliver components and systems that meet cost, timing, and quality targets.
  • Be part of a diverse team fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture, promoting continuous learning and professional development among team members.



Requirements:
  • Bachelorโ€™s or Masterโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering, or combined electrical/mechanical engineering, systems engineering, or a relevant field.
  • 15+ years of experience in body electrical and/or electromechanical areas and relevant automotive assignments, covering all phases of product development (design, test, and launch).
  • Strong technical skills and expertise in body control systems, employing a six sigma approach to engineering design and problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided engineering (CAE) or direct experience in this field.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Willingness to take a collaborative approach to achieve ambitious goals.
